Day 257 – 31st October 2011
Suburban Street, Hervey Bay, QLD

On our way out of Bundy this morning we did our usual grocery shopping and refuelling before driving out to the airport - Andrew wanted to have a look at the airport as it was only recently upgraded. Next we travelled to Woodgate, which has a very long beach but as the weather wasn’t that great we didn’t stay very long and continued on to Walker’s Point where we had lunch. Afterwards we drove to Hervey Bay with a stop at Childers, a pleasant town with some nice historic buildings but it’s sadly more known as the town where 15 backpackers died in a youth hostel fire in 2004. In Hervey Bay we drove along the foreshore and had a look at the different beaches and got a view of Fraser Island from Matthew Flinders Lookout. We decided to stay here for the remainder of the afternoon and went for a lovely walk along the beach.
