Drove to Streaky Bay had 0 km’s left in the fuel tank, just made it.  A day of catching up on chores.  Did the washing, shopped and cleaned the van.  Walked in to town, Nele said I spent too much time in Mitre 10 (1hr ½). That’s normal isn’t it, after all I was trying to make some adjustments to the van that would make her life easier (fixing a drawer?).

Day 10 – 26th Feb 2011
Peter & Paula’s Shack (P&P’s Shack & Breakfast), Coffin Bay, SA

Went fishing as they say.  Spent the whole day out in the boat and caught some King George Whiting, Flathead, sandcrabs and to Peter's disgust trumpeters which we used for crab bait.  During the day Peter showed us some sea lions and some dolphins paid us a visit riding the bow waves.

The day's catch produced a lovely dinner, starting with crabs for entrée with flat head and whiting for mains.  Peter showed us how to scale and fillet the whiting, clean the crabs and prepare a whole flathead.

Walked from Yangie Bay to Long Beach (20km’s return) – tough walk, fairly monotonous and too shallow and salty to swim at Long Beach – bugger.  I wouldn’t recommend this walk, however good exercise.

Spent the arvo relaxing at the campsite

Rode our bikes to Fishermans point (12 km) and then walked to Cape Donington and Yachties Beach (12 km) and then had to return home.  Overall we rode 24 km over corrugated dirt road and walked 12 km.  Sore backsides and feet by the end of it.

Nele got excited when she saw some kangaroo and an emu even though she’s seen them plenty of times, typical Europeans.

Day 2 - 18th Feb 2011
Fitzgerald Bay, SA

Cracked a windscreen on day 2 – Awesome – just after Port Augusta on the Eyre Highway a truck spat a rock into our windscreen, on a bitumen road - can you believe it.

Absolutely poured all day as we travelled to Fitzgerald Bay, 50mm fell across the Eyre Peninsula- good day to be driving.

Visited Snowtown and Port Germein (Australia’s longest wooden jetty) along the way.

Well we spent our first night in the van at Fitzgerald Bay Campsite (no. 662 in the Camps book).  Pulled up along the water edge with views of the coast as we sat and tucked into some good old spaghetti bolognaise – this is the life.
