Day 325 – 7^th January 2012

White Beach Tourist Park, White Beach, TAS

Another early start to walk to Cape Pillar before the wind quicks in as this walk is not advised in strong winds. We walked past Lunchtime Creek to Perdition Ponds and finally reached the Blade and Chasm Lookout where we had great views over Tasman Island and the coastline. After a rest we walked back to the campsite and packed up (?km return - ?h). Next we had lunch and walked back to Fortescue Bay (8km – 2h). We moved on to White Beach where we booked into the caravan park and enjoyed a relaxing evening.

Day 324 – 6^th January 2012

Bare Knoll Campsite, Tasman National Park, TAS

This morning we realized we had our days mixed up and it was Friday instead of Saturday. To cut a long story short it meant we decided to leave on an overnight hike we were planning on the Tasman Peninsula today. Also the weather was looking good for the next 2 days and rain was forecasted as of Sunday. So we quickly said goodbye to Tim and drove to Fortescue Bay with a short stop at Eaglehawk Neck Lookout on the way. We packed our backpacks and were walking by lunchtime. We took the side trip to Cape Huoy where we enjoyed beautiful views over the coast back to Fortescue Bay and on to Cape Pillar. Afterwards we continued on to our campsite via a steep climb over Mt Fortescue. We were happy to get to our campsite as it had been a long and tiring afternoon of walking (?km – 6.5h - ?m ascent/?m descent). We put up the tent, had dinner and a chat to the fellow hikers we met on the way up before retiring to bed early.
