Day 103 – 30th May 2011
Palm Grove Caravan Park, Broome, WA
Today we hopped on our bikes and went for a ride to discover Broome, known as the ‘pearl of the North’. We visited the Japanese cemetery where hundreds of pearl divers are buried – Broome was founded as a pearling port in the late 1880s and is still producing the world’s finest pearls. Had a look at Chinatown, Streeter’s Jetty (with a warning sign of a recent crocodile sighting!) and Sun Pictures, the world’s oldest operating open-air picture gardens. Back at the caravan park we went for a refreshing dip in the pool.
