Day 139 – 5th July 2011
Muirella Park Campsite, Kakadu National Park, NT
Early morning we left on the Barrk bushwalk. This 12km loop walk leaves from Nourlangie - where you can view an ancient Aboriginal shelter and several art sites – and goes through sandstone country and past the Narguluwur art gallery (12km loop – 4.5h). From what we have seen thus far we would consider this to be one of the nicer walks here in Kakadu as it is a bit more diverse and challenging than the many billabong/river walks. Afterwards we had lunch at Anbangbang Billabong and climbed to Nawurlandja lookout (600m return – 20min), offering nice views of the billabong and Nourlangie Rock. We spent the night at Muirella Park where we attended another free ranger talk on the buffalo hunting days.
