Day 253 – 27th October 2011
Tim’s Place, Coral Cove, QLD

Another early start today with a walk to Workman’s Beach and the Discovery Trail to a lookout with views over Workman’s and Agnes Water Beaches (3km return – 30min). Afterwards we drove to the Agnes Water Beach to have breakfast there. Next we continued on to Town of 1770 where a cairn marks Captain Cook’s first landing in Queensland on 24th May 1770. We drove to the Joseph Banks Conservation Park situated on the 1770 headland and walked to 2 lookouts with views over the coast and Bustard Bay. It was starting to warm up so we headed to the beach for a swim to cool off before going on a stroll along the coast to the boat ramp. Town of 1770 is a very quiet and beautiful place where you could easily stay and relax for a lot longer but as we are meeting up with a friend of Andrew in Bundaberg tonight we drove back to Agnes Water with a stop at the east coast’s most northerly surf beach to have a swim and a look at the surfing lesson that was taking place. Before leaving Agnes Water we drove to Spring Beach and went for a walk along the foreshore on the Red Rock Walking Trail offering many spectacular views of the coast (6km return – 2h). Next we drove to Eurimbula NP where a short walk took us to the Ganoonga Noonga Lookout with views over the nearby ranges and all the way to Bustard Bay (800m return – 15min). On the way to Bundaberg we turned off to have a look at Rules Beach and Baffle Creek at Flat Rock before meeting up with Tim, who cooked a beautiful bbq tea for us.
