Day 286 – 29
th November 2011
One Mile Beach Caravan Park, Anna Bay, NSW
We got up early this morning to make the most of the good weather. We drove to Elizabeth Beach where we had breakfast, before having a look at Boomerang Beach and Blueys Beach. Next we drove to Sandbar, located along Smiths Lake, where we went for a walk to look at the Ocean. Afterwards we continued on to Seal Rocks where we walked up to Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse offering a great view over Lighthouse Beach. We stopped at Neranie in Myall Lakes NP to view Lake Myall, before driving to Bulahdelah with a quick stop at the bakery and a photo opportunity at the Old Courthouse. We took the Bombah Point ferry to cross Lake Myall and drove to The Wells Camping Area to view the lake from another angle. At Dees Point we first went for a walk to the beach, before crossing the road for a walk to Pipers Creek (1km return – 20min). Next we arrived at Hawks Nest where we drove along the Myall River, stopped at Jimmys Beach to admire the stunning views over Port Stephens towards Nelson Bay, had lunch at Bennetts Beach and walked up Yacaaba Headland (5km return – 1h35). Late afternoon we crossed the Myall River to Tea Gardens and onto the Pacific Highway to Nelson Bay, located at the other side of Port Stephens. We had a quick stop in Kuruah to view the Kuruah River that feeds into Port Stephens. At Nelson Bay we drove along the foreshore and Bagnalls Beach to the visitor information centre. Afterwards we drove up to Gan Gan Lookout with views over Port Stephens, before checking in at the One Mile Beach caravan park. We finished the day with a refreshing swim.
