Bare Knoll Campsite, Tasman National Park, TAS
This morning we realized we had our days mixed up and it was
Friday instead of Saturday. To cut a long story short it meant we decided to
leave on an overnight hike we were planning on the Tasman Peninsula today. Also
the weather was looking good for the next 2 days and rain was forecasted as of
Sunday. So we quickly said goodbye to Tim and drove to Fortescue Bay with a short
stop at Eaglehawk Neck Lookout on the way. We packed our backpacks and were walking by
lunchtime. We took the side trip to Cape Huoy where we enjoyed beautiful views
over the coast back to Fortescue Bay and on to Cape Pillar. Afterwards we continued on to our campsite
via a steep climb over Mt Fortescue. We were happy to get to our campsite as it
had been a long and tiring afternoon of walking (?km – 6.5h - ?m ascent/?m
descent). We put up the tent, had dinner and a chat to the fellow hikers we met
on the way up before retiring to bed early.
