Day 283 – 26th November 2011
Jacaranda Caravan Park, North Haven, NSW
It was still raining this morning so we enjoyed a sleep-in. Afterwards we did some grocery shopping and visited the koala hospital. Each year they treat about 300 koalas who are usually injured by cars while trying to cross the road. Afterwards we drove to the beach to watch the body boarders and surfers as they don’t let a bit of rain stop them from having fun with the waves. The ocean water was looking very brown (usually it is nice and blue), caused by the river water carrying lots of dirt entering in the mouth nearby, and there was lots of foam on the beach. After lunch Andrew worked on the blog and Nele almost finished the Flemish book she’s reading. Late afternoon it finally cleared up and we went for a walk along the foreshore to town. Having seen Port Macquarie in better conditions we felt there was no reason to stick around any longer. On our way out of town we stopped at the same lookouts as yesterday to get some better photos. We drove past Lake Cathie and Bonny Hills before arriving at North Haven where we stayed for the night.
