Wollomombi Rest Area, Wollomombi, NSW
The wind had changed direction overnight so the ocean was not as choppy and therefore it was ideal for a morning swim. After breakfast we drove to Emerald Beach where we went for a walk along Shelly Beach and over Look At Me Now Headland in Moonee Beach Nature Reserve (3.5km loop – 45min). We saw lots of kangaroos and great scenery along the walk. Next we continued on to Coffs Harbour with a short visit to Moonee Beach along the way. In Coffs Harbour we had a look at Park Beach and Jetty Beach, before driving to the visitor information centre. As the town’s main attractions are its beaches we drove to Diggers Beach for lunch. Afterwards we left town and continued along the coast to Sawtell Beach, where we had a stop at the lookout and went for a swim before driving inland via Waterfall Way to Wollomombi. A change in weather was forecasted and we experienced it on the way to Wollomombi where we encountered fog, heavy rain and hail whilst driving up the mountains. Luckily at the other side of the range the weather was a lot clearer!
