Little Yabba Picnic Area, Imbil State Forest, QLD
This morning we drove to the local QPWS (Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service) office to find out if we would be able to take our van into Conondale National Park as the road to the Booloumba Creek day-use area was noted as 4WD recommended due to a couple of creek crossings. They assured us we would be fine so off we went … three easy creek crossings later we were there. We went for a walk up Mt Allan (593m ABSL) where a 9.6m fire tower offers a splendid 360 degree view of the Mary Valley and surrounding ranges (10.6km return – 2h30). Almost back at the van another track leads to Artists Cascades and as the photo in the brochure looked very nice we decided to go there as well and see for ourselves (10.2km return – 2h30). After lunch we continued driving up the steep Sunday Creek Road to Booloumba view lookout and further on to Booloumba Falls car park where we walked to the falls (3km return – 45min). Tired after all this walking we drove back down and camped at the free rest area at Little Yabba Creek.
