Day 145 – 11th July 2011
Edith Falls Campsite, Nitmiluk National Park, NT

This morning we explored the Umbrawarra Gorge a bit further till we got to a point where we either had to get wet to continue or turn back. We decided to turn back but before leaving the park we had our morning swim in one of the pools at the entrance of the gorge. At lunchtime we arrived at Edith Falls, part of the Nitmiluk NP located North of Katherine. After a quick bite to eat we walked up to the top of the escarpment, past Long Hole Pool and on to Sweetwater Pool, a beautiful swimming hole on the Edith River (8.4km return - 3h). We returned to the campsite via the Leliyn Trail offering fantastic views at the Leliyn Lookout, of the beautiful Edith Falls and Upper Pools and at the Bemang Lookout (2.6km loop - 1h). We finished the day with another dip at the plunge pool.
