Day 144 – 10th July 2011
Umbrawarra Campsite, Umbrawarra Gorge National Park, NT

After breakfast we walked to Murrill Billabong and the South Alligator River (2.5km return – 45mins) – nothing special to be seen. Before driving back on the bumpy Gunlom road to the main highway we hiked back up to the Top Pools for a swim. Back on the road we left Kakadu NP behind us and continued on to Pine Creek where we stopped for lunch at the local Café and had a look around town. The Mine Lookout gives a panoramic view of the Enterprise pit, an open cut mine now full of water. We also visited the Water Gardens, the Railway Museum and the Miners Park. Afterwards we drove to Umbrawarra Gorge NP – over another corrugated road with some small creek crossings as well - where we set up camp and went for a walk and swim in the gorge.
