Pine Valley Hut, Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, TAS
Day 6 of 8 – Overland Track
Bert Nichols Hut to Pine Valley Hut (10.3km, ?m ascent, ?m descent)
Side Trip: Labyrinth (6.8km return, 300m ascent/descent)
This morning we got an early start and walked to the Pine Valley turn-off where we stopped for a short break. Many walkers continue on to Narcissus Hut and bypass the Pine Valley section, however we have decided to include it in our walk. So after a short break we headed of to Pine Valley crossing the Narcissus River and Cephissus Creek several times. After reaching Pine Valley Hut and having some lunch we climbed up to the Labyrinth and walked to the lookout offering great views over the many lakes and to the Acropolis. Next we continued on past Lake Ophion to the shores of Lake Elysia, before backtracking to the hut. At the hut we rested for a while before getting tea ready.
