Day 122 – 18th June 2011
Gurrandalng Campsite, Keep River National Park, NT

This morning we drove to Lake Argyle, classed as an inland sea covering over 1,000 square km. The lake was formed be the damming of the Ord River in 1971 and acts as a reservoir for the irrigation scheme in Kununurra. We stopped at the different lookouts to view the lake, Ord River and the Ord River Dam.  We were debating whether we should do a lake and/or river cruise, but finally decided we had a good enough idea of what the area was like without getting on a boat. Instead we went for a short ridge walk that led to great views of the Ord River Gorge and we could see the lake in the distance. We made a quick visit to the historic Argyle Downs Homestead, former home of the pastoral Durack family, before continuing our travels to the Northern Territory. This afternoon we crossed the border so said goodbye to WA and welcomed NT. First stop, just after the border, was Keep River National Park where we set up camp and changed our watches.
