Calypso Holiday Park, Yamba, NSW

Day 274 – 17th November 2011
Calypso Holiday Park, Yamba, NSW

This morning we drove to Razorback Lookout offering a view over Evans Head and the coast. Next we continued on to Chinamans Beach where we walked to Snapper Point along the rocks. Walking back along the rocks with the incoming high tide made it a little more challenging to stay dry, but we managed to get back safely. On the way back to town we stopped at the harbour and bought some fresh prawns for dinner. In town we treated ourselves to a yummy fresh juice, before hitting the road again. The Pacific Highway took us through Woodburn and we stopped at New Italy for lunch. On the way into Iluka we checked out the Woody Head campsite in Bundjalung NP. Nice place to camp but not cheap ($14 per adult + $7 per day vehicle entry fee = $35 for an unpowered site). We decided to give it a miss and drove to Iluka Bluff Lookout offering views over the coast to Yamba. In Iluka we went for a walk along the Clarence River before driving to Yamba. We stopped along the way at Frazers Reef - where Andrew got very excited as you don’t often see the Frazer name with a Z - and Shark Bay, both in Bundjalung NP.
