Lawn Hill Gorge Campsite, Boodjamulla NP, QLD

Day 184 – 19th August 2011
Lawn Hill Gorge Campsite, Boodjamulla NP, QLD

This morning we continued the slow drive over the corrugated road to Lawn Hill Gorge. We set up camp and after an early lunch we did the Eastern walks of the park taking us to the Cascades (which were dry), Island Stack and the Aboriginal Wild Dog Dreaming site. (8.5km return - 2h20). The Island Stack lookout and walk on the ‘table top’ offer nice views of the gorge and surrounding area. At the Aboriginal Wild Dog Dreaming site you can view ancient rock art and stone engravings. After getting hot and sweaty on the walk, we cooled off with a refreshing swim in the creek – yes it’s been a while but we can go swimming again. We relaxed for the remainder of the afternoon and finished the puzzle. Tonight we noticed that at least 5 campsites were not occupied, wondering if this was the case as well last night?
