The Bend Campsite, Coen, QLD

Day 228 – 2nd October 2011
The Bend Campsite, Coen, QLD

This morning we went for a drive to Cape Weymouth. On the way back Andrew moved to the side to let another car with trailer pass, but he didn't realize the drop was quite high and how sandy it was, so we got stuck. But with the help of the other guy we managed to get out without any issues. We continued on to Portland Roads, a small fishing hub where we had morning tea at the local cafe. Next we drove to Lockhart River, an Aboriginal community, with a nice beach before stopping at Mt Tozer lookout. After a quick lunch we travelled all the way to Coen. During the drive Andrew noticed the engine was revving more than it should. He stopped a couple of times to check it out but as he couldn't spot anything wrong we continued on. At The Bend campsite we gave the car a bit of a clean as we are returning it tomorrow. After a refreshing swim in a little pool of the croc-free river, we enjoyed a relaxing evening with dinner at the campfire Andrew lit.

checking the oil and water and discovered the....

Auxiliary battery hold-down bracket had completely come off.
We lost the rod and bolts so we used some rope.  All due to the wonderful corrugations
