Munall (Mimosa) Campsite, Blackdown Tableland National Park, QLD

Day 249 – 23rd October 2011
Munall (Mimosa) Campsite, Blackdown Tableland National Park, QLD

Before leaving Rocky, we had to stop at the Sphere marking the Tropic of Capricorn, which we are crossing once more, and of course we couldn’t leave Australia’s beef capital without taking a photo of a big bull. Next we did some grocery shopping and a fuel stop before going west as we have decided we can’t miss out on visiting Canarvon Gorge. We travelled via Dingo, with a Dingo statue welcoming you into town, to Blackdown Tableland NP where we are staying the night. At the entrance of the park we stopped to have a look at Yaddamen Dhina (Horseshoe Lookout) offering nice views of distant ranges and plains 500m below. Next we did the Gudda Gumoo (Rainbow Waters) walk to a lookout and down to the base of the waterfall – very pretty (4km return – 1h15). We finished the day with another walk following Mimosa Creek to Mook Mook Lookout on the edge of the tableland with views of sandstone cliffs (2.4km return – 30min).
